A Sunday with Mike Montgomery

I was recently informed that Banshee would be producing a batch of Banshee Amps painted to match the bikes that I have been riding all season. I was pretty stoked to get custom painted frames and even more stoked to know that they will be available to the public.

I decided to go out with two of my friends Danny and Donnie (from NKOTB) and film a short edit to welcome the frames into the world.

A Sunday with Mike Montgomery on pinkbike.com

I am not sure how many frames will be available or when they will be available. Stay tuned to www.bansheebikes.blogspot.com for more information and go over to Pinkbike to leave comments on the video.

World Records

From Pinkbike.com

ODI brought Mike Montgomery up to shred Mammoth Mountain before opening weekend on June 20th. ODI and Mike met up with the big dogs at Mammoth and gave input on what they feel needs to be added to the Mammoth Bike Park. Mammoth has 2-3 times the amount of budget this year and is looking to make a top notch bike park within the next few years. In the process Mike and ODI set up some future plans with Mammoth...watch Mike shred and talk about what plans he has coming later this year at Mammoth!

Jump Ship - Pictures

Greg at Straitline emailed me a bunch of pictures from Jump Ship. I went through them and pick out my favorites.

Flair from the small quarter to the step down landing.

540 from the small quarter to the landing of the step down.

Back flip tail whip in my final run.

Extended no foot can can.

Superman ...

I will be pretty busy until the start of Camp of Champions. I have my sister's wedding, some filming and the Claymore Challenge. Then I get to drive me and my bikes north to Whistler for Camp of Champions and Crankworx, I hope to see you all there.

Jump Ship 2011

Just finished up a sushi dinner in downtown Victoria after placing second in the first Jump Ship. With the wind blowing on my final run I was lucky to be able to pull off my run. I 360'd the drop in, did a superman on the first jump and then a backflip-whip. Landed pretty far down the landing and lost most of my speed, 360'd the next jump and then whipped the small quarter.

Have some more filming to do and then I am back home for a couple of days before some more travel.

Check out the Jump Ship coverage on Cheknews, watch until the end for best trick results ...

Mike Montgomery wins Teva games

Congratulations Mike!

Mike Montgomery has won the 2011 Teva Games slopestyle in convincing style. His final run included a big 720 along with a dialed run to seal the deal. When video is available we will be posting it.

Honourable mentions also have to go to banshee riders Paul Genovese (7th) and Jack Fogelquist (9th)... great work guys!

Paul Bas went down pretty hard on a double backflip by all accounts. We hope he isn't too badly hurt and makes a speedy recovery.

Mike Montgomery in Bike Mag

Poached From Morgan Dunnet's Blog

Have wanted to post this since February when I did the illustration but waited for the magazine to be printed. Looks okay in the magazine but at a half page it doesn't quite capture the hugeness of Mike Montgomery. He's kind of a big deal.

Ranch Style - Mike Montgomery Wins Best Trick

In pretty much a landslide victory Mike Montgomery has won the Pinkbike Best Trick Throwdown at Ranchstyle in Colorado with 353 votes.

The event took place yesterday at the Grassroots Ranch in Colorado and was filmed by a team of videographers. The video was then posted to Pinkbike where viewers had the opportunity to vote for a winner. Mike's winning trick was a backflip barhop, something that is mostly unseen in mountain bike competition. Greg Watts placed second with 121 votes, he threw down a myriad of tricks including a flip double barspin and no handed 360 to barspin. Third place was Ben Glassen, a relatively unknown rider from Nanaimo BC. His super steezy 360 nac earned him 65 votes, while Eric Lawrenuk's decade (or 360 downside whip to some) earned him fourth place with 47 votes.

Ranch Style - Mike and Paul - Killing It

For all of Devon's coverage of Ranch Style head over to Pinkbike.com. To vote for best trick click here and you will probably want to vote for Mike ... I am just saying.

This is the best trick video, watch for the goods ... and by good I mean Mike ...

Paul Genovese made the trip south from Fernie and threw down some big tricks. I spoke with him last night and he said he flipped the step down, 3'd the drop and did a tail whip in mid pack. Paul has shown before that he can hang with the big boys when he finished 6th at the 2010 Goat Style Jam in Creston.

Good luck to Paul, Mike and Matt Dennis ...

Oh and go vote for best trick ... I think Blue Steel has this one ...

Keep Riding,
